About Dr. Naresh
Kumar Goyal

MBBS, MD, DM(AIIMS)

I did my Master’s Degree in Internal Medicine at SMS Medical College, Jaipur in December 1999. After completing my Degree I worked as honorary resident in department of cardiology at SMS medical college. There I was involved in patient care management in cardiology wards and managing pre and post intervention patients. During this period I started learning about cardiac interventions and was trained in temporary pacemaker implantation. I did eight months senior residency in cardiology at GB Pant Hospital, New Delhi from May 2000 to January 2001.

GB Pant Hospital Is 1000 Bed Capacity University Hospital In Delhi, With 3 Cath Labs & Upgraded CTVS Dept .There I was involved in patient care management in different wards and outdoors. During this period I was trained in managing cardiac emergencies and CCU care. At this time of my carrier I learned basic concepts of cardiac interventions

I did three years DM cardiology at All India Institute of Medical Sciences from January 2001 to January 2004 and after this I worked their as a post DM senior resident for about eleven months in department of cardiology. During my DM period I was trained in different branches of cardiology including emergencies, ICU care, Pediatric Cardiology, Echocardiography, Catheterization and interventions, electrophysiology, preventive cardiology and nuclear cardiology under supervision of Prof P Venugopal, Prof SC Manchanda and Prof KK Talwar. I attended cardiology emergency calls twice a week for one year and performed emergency cardiac interventions like pericardiocentesis, temporary pacemaker insertion and central vein canulations.

I was involved with providing specialist consultancy service for the management of cardiac problems of patients admitted under other disciplines on my call days. I performed over one thousand echocardiographic evaluation for congenital, valvular and ischeamic heart disease. I performed over one thousand diagnostic catheterizations as first assistant and over 500 as independent operator during this period. I assisted about 500 therapeutic interventions including primary and elective angioplasties, valvoplasties and device closure for atrial septal defect and patent ductus arteriosus.

During electrophysiology posting I assisted in different electrophysiology studies and radiofrequency ablation and in various kind of pacemaker and ICD implantation. During pediatric cardiology posting of six months I learned pediatric cardiac emergencies like neonates with critical congenital cardiac anomalies, cyanotic spells, haemoptysis etc and assisted in emergency procedures like balloon atrial septostomy, vulvuloplasty and coil embolisation. During my Post DM Period I took active participation in heart failure and heart transplant programme at All India Institute of Medical Sciences.

In November 2004, I got an opportunity to become Assistant Professor in Department of Cardiology G B Pant Hospital (Delhi University). Here I worked with Prof Sanjay Tyagi and Prof Vijay Trehan for about one and half year. During this period I was performing different cardiac interventions as independent operator like Primary and elective coronary angioplasties, pacemaker implantations and valvoplasties. At this time I was also supervising and teaching DM candidates to perform different kind of diagnostic cardiac procedures like coronary angiograms and therapeutic cardiac interventions like pericardiocentesis, temporary pacemaker insertion. I was in charge of hypertension clinic and actively involved in teaching program of DM residents. At this time I was involved in different kind of management and administrative work of department of cardiology like evaluation of cathlab, TMT Machine, Holter Machine, procurement of goods for cathlab.

In May 2006, I joined Jaipur Golden Hospital as a consultant cardiologist with Dr Pramod Kumar, who is renowned cardiologist and one of the pioneers of transradial intervention in India. Presently I am performing different cardiac interventions as independent operator like Primary and elective coronary angioplasties, pacemaker implantations and valvoplasties. I am also taking active participate in health awareness program among public and physicians in the nearby area of Northwest Delhi. To keep updated my knowledge I attend various national and international conferences, and lastly I had Advanced Fellowship in complex percutanious intervention at University of Torino, Italy under Dr Imad Sheiban.

In may 2012, I moved to Max super-speciality hospital as an intervention cardiologist and participated in different hospital committee and become Associate Director and HOD clinical and Research Cardiology

In July 2013, I started a periphery outreach programme to serve the needy and poor people at bahadurgarh in jhjajhar district of Haryana. In collaboration with Brahmshakti Hospital, we started a state of art Cardiac cath-lab project with Non Invasive lab and Cardiac care Unit. Later on Expanded to Advanta Hospital, Jhajhar. Both the unit are providing the awareness for prevention and management of cardiac disease at affordable cost.

In march 2020, I moved to BLK super-speciality hospital, New Delhi as a Director Intervention cardiology & Incharge -Heart failure Programme. I have been given responsibility to establish Heart Failure Clinic, which will identify the population at risk from Heart Failure and manage these patients with appropriate prevention and treatment modalities.

I have active interest in research and conducted different studies in rural population of Haryana to see the effect of smoking in heart disease apart from working as principal investigator in Global clinical trials.
